La Mich Paleteria

This Paleteria is amazing.I discovered it with co-workers about a year ago. We try to go as often as possible without getting caught! They sell paletas which are basically popsicles. You can get it dipped in chocolate, and covered in sprinkles, nuts or coconut shavings.  I tried Pineapple last time, and it was so good. It had chunks of real pineapple!  I also prefer to get them plain the first time around, because sometimes the chocolate dip overwhelms the true paleta flavor. They also have delicious coffee drinks.

Getting me through the day…

I have recently discovered Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos. Eydie Gorme is her own one-woman show, but she teamed up with Los Panchos and delivered some of the most beautiful Spanish music I have ever heard! It’s amazing to find new in old. This tape also has a few of my other favorite Latina singers.

A Greek Odyssey

Ok, so maybe I got the title of my very first blog entry from one of my favorite record labels, Putumayo, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have a very uniquely creative experience in Greece. How could you not? The royal blueness of the ocean mixed with the rich cheese and wonderful breeze, really awakened a new existence in me I didn’t realize was there. Well, maybe the cheese awakened something else, too, but not like what I get at home. In Greece it’s different. Natural. I felt very “at home”. Nothing seemed pretentious or unsure. I was relieved to find that my daily intake did not include celebrity gossip or corn syrup. I was away from my honey, though, so to be back in his company was all the reason to come home. Nobody makes me laugh like he does. He also learns me a thing or two every now and then! He’s a smart guy.
